Asterwise vs VedicAstroAPI

VedicAstroAPI speaks 21 languages and is cheaper per paid call. Asterwise has a calculating MCP server, a permanent free tier, generated SDKs and a published accuracy check.

Facts about VedicAstroAPI were read from its own pages on 5 September 2026; every row in the full table below carries its source, and the page ends with how to report an error.

The short answer

VedicAstroAPI speaks 21 languages, publishes its rate limits, and is cheaper per call on every paid plan. Its advertised MCP server only navigates its documentation; it cannot cast a chart. There is no permanent free tier, no OpenAPI document and no SDK. Asterwise has all four, plus a published accuracy check.

What you can verify before you write a line of code

An astrology API is a promise about astronomy, coverage and price. The fastest way to compare two of them is to ask what each lets you check in advance.

Can you check this before signing up?AsterwiseVedicAstroAPI
The exact price of a callYes. $10 ÷ 10 = $1.00; $30 ÷ 50 = $0.60; $100 ÷ 300 = $0.33.₹49.97 (Vedic Limited), ₹33.32 (Vedic Complete), down to ₹7.67 on the largest plan
What computes the positionsYes. Swiss Ephemeris with the full data files.not published
How accurate the positions areYes: 80 positions checked against NASA JPL Horizons, median 0.046 arcseconds, raw data and script published.not published
The full API contractYes, public at api.asterwise.com/openapi.json.not published
Try it without payingYes. 500 calls a month, no card, does not expire.14-day trial, no card; trial quota not published

Where a cell says not published, it means we could not find the fact on the vendor's pages on 5 September 2026. It is not a claim that the fact is bad, only that you cannot check it before you build.

Choose VedicAstroAPI if

  • Your users need readings in Indian or European languages beyond English.
  • You want PDF reports or an AI chat product from the same vendor.
  • Price per call on a paid plan is your deciding number.

Choose Asterwise if

  • You want an MCP server that actually computes: 103 tools that cast charts, run dasha and match kundalis from inside Claude or Cursor.
  • You want to try before paying, with no card and no trial clock.
  • You want typed SDKs and an OpenAPI document instead of a Postman collection.
  • You want to verify the astronomy: Asterwise publishes its ephemeris and a NASA JPL Horizons check; VedicAstroAPI publishes neither.
  • You want the API key in a header, not in the query string where proxies and logs can see it.

Start with 500 free calls a month, no card, no expiry. Connect the MCP server to Claude or Cursor in one line, or install the Python or TypeScript SDK. See pricing or connect the MCP server.

How to read the prices

Where a vendor publishes both a monthly price and a monthly call quota, the price per 1,000 calls is the first divided by the second, and the arithmetic is shown under the row. Where a vendor sells credits that cost different amounts per endpoint, or publishes no quota, no per-call price is given, because none can be derived.

How this page stays honest

Every statement about another vendor on this page is a statement about what that vendor's public pages said on the date shown, not a statement about the quality of its calculations or its service. Where a page did not say, the row reads not published, and that means only that we could not find it. Vendors change prices and features; verify anything that matters to you on the vendor's own page before you decide.

Report an error. Email support@asterwise.com with the row, the correct fact and a public page that shows it. We check it within five business days, change the row, and record the change in the corrections log on this page with the date.
