Asterwise against five astrology APIs

Before you build on an astrology API, five things are worth knowing: what a call costs, what computes the positions, how accurate they are, whether the full contract is published, and whether you can try it without paying. Here is what each vendor lets you check, with the source for every answer.

These are the hosted astrology APIs a developer is most likely to shortlist alongside Asterwise. Each has its own page with the full table, the sources, and an honest list of where it beats Asterwise. Facts are as published by each vendor on 5 September 2026; prices are shown in the currency the vendor displays and are not converted.

The short table

What the table is really asking

Every row above is a question a buyer can settle before writing code. Asterwise answers all of them in public: a per-call price on every tier, the Swiss Ephemeris with the full data files, an 80-position check against NASA JPL Horizons with the script to repeat it, a live OpenAPI document, and 500 free calls a month with no card. Some competitors answer some of them; the individual pages say which, and also say plainly where each competitor is the better choice.

Method

One person read each vendor's pricing page, documentation index and, where it exists, OpenAPI document and MCP listing, on 5 September 2026. A row is filled only from something on those pages; anything else is not published. Where two pages from the same vendor disagree, both figures are shown. Per-1,000-call prices are monthly price divided by monthly quota, with the arithmetic under the row; credit systems whose per-call cost varies are marked not derivable. Asterwise's own rows come from its live OpenAPI document, its pricing page and its published accuracy check, and are held to the same standard.

How these pages stay honest

Every statement about another vendor on this page is a statement about what that vendor's public pages said on the date shown, not a statement about the quality of its calculations or its service. Where a page did not say, the row reads not published, and that means only that we could not find it. Vendors change prices and features; verify anything that matters to you on the vendor's own page before you decide.

Report an error. Email support@asterwise.com with the row, the correct fact and a public page that shows it. We check it within five business days, change the row, and record the change in the corrections log on this page with the date.
